David Henderson

David graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelors of Arts in English. He received his law degree from Dalhousie Law School, including a Certification in Business
Law. David was subsequently called to the Ontario bar in 2008.

 

He is a partner of Agro Zaffiro LLP in Hamilton, Ontario. Since his call to the bar, David’s legal practice has focused on the areas of trusts & estate and corporate law. David has extensive experience with succession planning for family businesses, as well as complex estate and trust planning and administration.

David places a high value on community involvement. He is a member of the Hamilton Law Association (HLA), the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, Hamilton Estate Planner’s Council and HLA Estates and Trusts subcommittee and is a co-organizer of the HLA Trusts & Estates Conference.

He resides in Burlington with his spouse and three children.

Dr. Trevor Harrison

Dr. Harrison obtained his Medical Doctorate at McMaster University and completed his post-graduate residency training at the University of Western Ontario. As a hospitalist, Dr. Harrison cares for patients admitted to the hospital for general medical conditions. In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Harrison served as the hospitalist lead in developing Joseph Brant Hospital’s integrated stroke unit. He is currently the Chair of the Primary Care Network Leadership Council with the Burlington Ontario Health Team.

 

 

Dr. Harrison remains actively involved at McMaster University as a Clinical Adjunct Professor for the Michael G DeGroote School of Medicine. He enjoys teaching medical students and residents. He has previously been awarded Preceptor of the Year for the Halton Regional Site of the Family Medicine Residency Program.

Dr. Harrison grew up in Burlington and always planned to return to Burlington after his medical training to practice medicine. Dr. Harrison enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community. When not working, Dr. Harrison enjoys running, skiing, and playing soccer.

 

Luisa Hubner

Luisa’s long-time engagement with the local communities of Hamilton and Burlington are evident in both education and volunteerism. Upon graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University, Luisa articled with Price Waterhouse Chartered Accountants in Hamilton, achieving her CA designation. During her varied career path, Luisa held positions in finance, marketing, and sales, and is a retired member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

Luisa has co-chaired fundraising events for local schools, always with a focus on enhancing the students’ experience. She has Board level experience on the professional side, as well as cultural and community. Luisa feels most fortunate to have spent several years in the academic environment. She served as the Director of Budgeting and then as a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. She has also had the pleasure of lecturing in Business Administration and Small Business Management at Mohawk College.

 

Luisa, her husband and their three grown sons all call Burlington home. They enjoy the outdoors and spending time as a family.

Nigel Jacobs

Nigel is the CEO of Taylor Leibow LLP, a 79-year-old regional independent professional accounting firm located in Hamilton and Burlington. Nigel is an FCPA, FCMA through his membership of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.

Nigel is an acknowledged expert in the leadership and practice management of professional service firms and continues to be involved in speaking engagements, including leading benchmarking sessions, practice management seminars and international management panels. He also has extensive governance and board experience with professional associations and bodies, as well as community organizations. Nigel has served as Vice President of the Americas and as a member of the Executive Board of DFK International. He has also served as Chair of the Carpenter Hospice and Director of Finance/Executive Committee member of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce. Other board service includes the Public Accountants Council of Ontario and President of the CPAFMA (a US-based association of professionals that manage accounting firms).

 

Nigel is passionate about giving back through service in a professional and community capacity, as evidenced above. Nigel and his wife, Wendy, who have been married for more than 40 years, emigrated from Cape Town, South Africa, in 1994, landed in Burlington, and never left. They presently live in Aldershot with their son, while their daughter lives in Arizona with their two grandsons.

Shaheryar Mian

Shaheryar Mian is Managing Director of Landsdale Investment Holding Corporation, an investment firm focused on real estate investments and public equities. He began his career at Lloyds Bank in London after graduating from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2005. After five years in financial services, he transitioned into management consulting with Gallup in New York before founding his own investment firm.

 

Beyond business, Shaheryar is active in civic and philanthropic leadership, serving on the boards of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce and Crime Stoppers Halton. He has helped raise millions of dollars for hospitals across Ontario and has supported fundraising efforts for Habitat for Humanity. In 2023, he played a leadership role in a $2 million pledge toward the construction of Niagara South Hospital.

Shaheryar is also the author of the novel Shells on the Sand, a historical fiction work inspired by a family’s escape from Kuwait during the First Gulf War.

Shaheryar holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, a Master’s in Liberal Arts from Harvard University, and is a CFA charterholder.

Allan Pearson

Allan has lived for most of his life in Burlington. He was in the automotive business for over 43 years and was president of Discovery Ford Burlington. He sold the company to the Leggat Auto Group in 2019 and retired.

He has sat on numerous Boards, including the Carpenter Hospice, Burlington Foundation, Burlington Performing Arts Centre as Chair, and is currently Vice-Chair of the Canadian Ford Dealer and Associates Pension Board.

Allan and Denise enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren in Quebec and California and spend much of their summers in Muskoka and winters in Naples, Florida.

Jen Ross

Jen Ross is the founder of The Brand House Inc., where she helps organizations build meaningful connection by getting clear on what they stand for.

After more than 20 years in wealth management as a Creative Director in brand marketing, she developed a deep understanding of how trust is built over time. She believes the most effective brands don’t rely on persuasion, but create relevance and a sense of belonging.

That perspective carries into her work as the Founder of Collective Photo Co., where she redefined the traditional mini session through her ‘Take 10’ Signature Sessions, a modern format that has gained strong traction across Toronto and the GTA. Her portraits are known for capturing people in a way that feels natural, connected and deeply human.

Jen works with leading Canadian brands, executives, and community organizations to create work that is thoughtful, relevant, and rooted in real connection.

Oz Zafar

Oz Zafar is an experienced Commercial Banker with a proven track record of servicing mid-market commercial companies. In his current role as Vice-President, GTA West, Oz leads a strong team of Business Bankers covering Halton Region. Oz has been with TD Bank for 16 years, having started his career as a Customer Experience Associate while attending the University of Toronto.

 

Oz is an active volunteer and supporter of United Way Halton & Hamilton. He has served as an Executive Member of the Campaign Cabinet for the last two years and is also Chair of their New Business Committee. Oz currently sits on the Board of the Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation.

Oz and his wife Courtney have lived in Burlington for over 20 years and have two children. Oz enjoys reading, golfing, and traveling with his family.

Andy Vanin

Andy Vanin, P.Eng., is an Executive Vice President and Partner with Pinchin Ltd., one of Canada’s largest environmental, engineering, building science, and health & safety consulting firms. Andy has over 30 years of engineering consulting experience covering a wide spectrum of projects involving environmental due diligence reviews for financial, insurance, real estate and legal clients across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Europe. He is a graduate of McMaster University with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is a member of Professional Engineers Ontario.

Andy served as Vice-Chair on the Board of Directors for Mark Preece Family House in Hamilton, Ontario (a not-for-profit low-cost residence for families with loved ones in critical care) from 2018 – 2023. Andy and his wife, Tanya, have lived in Burlington for over 25 years and have two children. Andy enjoys golfing, scuba diving, fishing, hiking and travelling.

 

Eric Vandewall

Eric Vandewall is President and CEO of Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) in Burlington. Under Eric’s leadership, several major accomplishments have been realized at JBH. An ongoing focus on improving quality, safety, and service excellence is evident throughout the hospital. Joseph Brant Hospital has received Accreditation with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada for over 12 years. In addition, JBH recently completed the largest redevelopment and capital expansion project in the hospital’s history. Phase 1, the Halton McMaster Family Health Centre, was completed in the Fall of 2014, and Phase 2, the redevelopment and expansion of the hospital, was completed in the fall of 2018. Joseph Brant Hospital is proud to partner with St. Joseph’s Health Care Hamilton and will join its award-winning clinical information system instance of Epic in the fall of 2026.

 

Prior to joining JBH, Eric served as Senior Vice President at Trillium Health Centre and as Vice President of Planning and Corporate Services at Trillium Health Centre. Eric has held a number of other senior management positions, including Director, Glaxo Wellcome; Director, Health Reform Implementation Team and several other senior positions at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care over an 11-year period.

Eric is a graduate of Queen’s University and holds a master’s degree in Public Administration, Health Policy. He also has an undergraduate degree from Toronto Metropolitan University in Architectural Sciences, and he holds a Chartered Director designation from the Directors College, McMaster University.
