Leaving a legacy and supporting healthcare close to home

November is Make-a-Will month, a time to raise awareness of the importance of having a will in place to ensure your estate plans – such as wishes for your legacy and taking care of your loved ones – are carried out as you intended.

Leaving a legacy gift in your will to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation makes a profound impact on the future of our healthcare.

A legacy gift helps us plan for the hospital’s future priorities and programs, as we continue to provide exemplary health care to our community.

What is a legacy gift?
A legacy gift is also called a bequest. A legacy gift is a donation in your will to a charity that is important to you. Remembering the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation in your will is a powerful way to make a big difference while leaving your legacy of generosity and care in your community.

How does a legacy gift benefit you and your loved ones?
You and your family can feel good about the lasting legacy you have established. Your estate could also benefit from tax advantages that may allow you to leave larger gifts for your loved ones.

Everyone has a different reason for supporting our hospital with a legacy gift. For Beverley Brandreth-Carbin, it’s about the special place Joseph Brant Hospital will always hold in her heart.

She served as the ward clerk in the emergency department for almost two decades and it was at JBH where she met her husband, Dr. Robert Carbin who she married in 1998.

Beverley has included JBH in her estate plans as a legacy gift from her and her children.

“Down the road, we’ll all need the hospital, and I’m proud that the Brandreth family will continue to support our community hospital.”

Let’s have a conversation about how you can leave a legacy on healthcare for future generations.
