Celebrating Black History Month: Michael Lee-Chin

Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month to honour the legacy of Black Canadians and their communities.

The 2022 theme for Black History Month is “February and Forever: Celebrating Black History today and every day,” which focuses on recognizing the daily contributions that Black Canadians make to Canada.

The Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation is proud to celebrate and recognize Michael Lee-Chin, and his contribution to our community and our Hospital in particular.

Michael Lee-Chin is a Jamaican-Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist and the Chairman and CEO of Portland Holdings.

Michael believes in “doing well and doing good” and that “those who can, should.”

In recognition of his philanthropic efforts including his $11M in support of Joseph Brant Hospital, Michael was appointed to the Order of Ontario in 2017.

Michael’s extraordinary investments in healthcare, and our community will benefit us for generations to come.
